‘This is my first visit here and definitely won’t be the last, the service was outstanding and the food even better. The few requirements we had they went above and beyond to accommodate us.

It really is a lovely place to eat.

‘We called around 1pm today for Sunday lunch. We were greeted very pleasently and given a table straight away.

The pub was extremely busy but had a great atmosphere.

We ordered the roast pork and roast beef and both were delicious. The portions are huge and the quality excellent.

The girls serving were pleasent and efficient with nothing too much trouble.

If you are after an excellent Sunday lunch you can't go wrong with the Peacock.’

‘Stayed at The Peacock at Barlow for 2 nights. We had an amazing stay. Welcoming and attentive staff on duty no matter what time we visited the bar and dining area. Our room was beautiful. Luxury toiletries, soft towels, and dressing gowns provided. The bathroom was stunning with heated flooring.

The food was exceptional. We dined each night of our stay, had lunch on the first day, and had a fabulous breakfast each morning.

We would have loved to stay longer.

We will definitely return and look at booking another room just so we can experience a different view of the surrounding countryside.’

‘Another really enjoyable visit! The staff are so lovely! Super dog friendly with a doggie water bar and treats! It’s was the hottest day of the year, inside has full air-conditioning! Bliss! Drinks are good. The starter nachos was amazing! I had a sandwich- wow it’s so hard to get a good sandwich anywhere! Delicious bread, carved ham, cheese and delicious home cooked chips! Hubby had the special salmon teriyaki burger - wow!

The toilets are immaculate- always judge a place by it’s loo’s!’

Some very unusual, and delicious wine choices and great local beers too. Top quality very tasty food. Definitely worth a visit.’

‘Fantastic staff who are obviously trained to a very high standard. Even at super busy times they can cope and are attentive and friendly. This is rare!

Coupled with lovely food and good selection of food which is of a high standard and locally sourced, you can’t go wrong.

Most pubs with food get away with low quality produce, pretty high prices and under paid, untrained young staff.

This place is run like a good pub and restaurant should be. Definitely a rarity other than it’s relative down the road, the Tickled Trout. Separate review to come! It’s worth coming to Barlow just to visit both places.’

‘It doesn't get better than this. Went for Sunday dinner on the recommendation of a friend. Wow was this a good recommendation and absolutely worth the 50 minute drive. The setting, cleanliness, staff and food are all absolutely perfect. We couldn't find fault with anything and the food especially made it. We will be back many times I imagine.’

‘Very good breakfast at a reasonable price. A lovely place and setting for a breakfast treat. Full English with black pudding and the eggs royale are our favourites. The hollandaise sauce is delicious. Friendly service too. This was our second time and won’t be our last.’

‘Came to barlow for a weekend ate here the first night - it did not disappoint.

Returned sunday around 5:30 for a roast - towards the end if service - delicious! Good size - lots of fresh veg and very tasty and hot.

Top end of price £20 but that's what you pay these days for far less quality.

A nice buzzing atmosphere too and a fabulous scenic drive to finish off - couldn't ask for more!

‘What a fabulous find! We went at lunch time for drinks as we were staying close by. Lovely pub in a great setting & super friendly staff so we decided to return for evening meal.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, great food & beer! Pub was busy on a Wednesday night but our food arrived without too much of a wait. My fish pie was fab & my husband had the pie which was filled with tender beef. 10/10.

Realised when I got back to Yorkshire I’d left my handbag there! Staff couldn’t do enough! Bag posted to me all contents there including cash! Super friendly, trustworthy staff! Thank you!!’

‘10 days into a UK/Paris trip & this is without a doubt the best place in which we’ve stayed. A superb renovated pub with new rooms, awesome design elements & quality food & beverages.

Highlights included online check-in, comfortable rooms/bed and stunning bathrooms (especially in Pilgrim), fresh scone jam & cream on arrival in our room, coffee pod machine, fluffy towels, hearty dinner & delicious included breakfast.

It's obvious that the owners have nailed customer-centric hospitality & there is a clear passion in the way rooms have be furnished. This is also evident in every interaction we had with staff. Congrats on reimagining the great British country pub!’

‘Found The Peacock at Barlow by accident on booking.com a few years ago. Have since been back 7 times over 2 years. What can I say? Amazing place, total break from reality, amazing staff, amazing food (especially the fish pie!), beautiful rooms and a breakfast fit for royalty!!!!! Will continue to return when we can, absolutely LOVE!!!!!!!!!’
